The CO2 laser is an ablative laser that emits a 10,600 nm wavelength absorbed by water in the skin to precisely vaporise target tissue. It is used to precisely remove raised lesions such as moles, skin tags, small scars and warts, and in fractional mode it is used to stimulate the dermis for scar and pore improvement.
The output and mode are determined after assessing the patient's lesion type, size, and depth. The precise excision mode and fractional mode are selected according to the indication, reducing the risk of depressed scars from output that is too strong or recurrence from output that is too weak.
Recovery care and sun protection are important after ablative procedures. We provide phased post-procedure ointment prescriptions, dressing guidance and sun-protection instructions to help prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

10,600nm Precision Ablation
The CO₂ laser is absorbed by water and precisely vaporises target tissue. Damage to surrounding healthy tissue is minimised, allowing selective removal of the lesion only.
Mode Selection by Lesion
Raised lesions are treated with the precise excision mode, and small scars and pores with the fractional mode. The mode is determined according to each patient's indication.
Patient-Tailored Output
If the output is too strong there is a risk of depression, and if too weak a risk of recurrence, so an appropriate output setting is important. It is adjusted after assessing skin thickness and lesion depth.
Recovery Care Guide
After treatment, we prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) through ointment prescriptions, dressing guidance, and sun protection advice. Care is tailored to each phase of recovery.
Who may not be suitable for this treatment
If you have a tendency toward keloid scarring, we will discuss together whether to proceed.
We do not recommend this treatment if you are pregnant.
If there is an active skin infection in the treatment area, we will wait until it has fully resolved before proceeding.
If you are currently taking isotretinoin or have stopped within the past six months, please let us know in advance.
Treatment Flow
Director's Consultation & Diagnosis
The lesion type, size, and depth are assessed, and the mode (excision or fractional) and output are determined.
Anaesthesia
Local anaesthesia or topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the lesion.
Precise Ablation
The lesion is precisely vaporised and removed, or fractional delivery stimulates the dermis.
Ointment & Dressing
Antibiotic ointment is applied to the treated area, with dressing as needed.
Recovery Care Guidance
We provide guidance on scab care and sun protection, and schedule follow-up observation.
Recovery Process
Immediately after treatment
The treated area may appear slightly indented or show minor bleeding, which is stabilised with ointment application.
Days 3–7
A crust forms; UV protection and moisturisation are essential.
1–2 weeks
The crust naturally falls away, revealing pink new skin as tone gradually evens out.
1–3 months
The treated area blends naturally with surrounding tone as the pigmentation-risk window passes.

Post-treatment Precautions
Do not pick at scabs — allow them to fall off naturally.
Apply sunscreen daily to prevent pigmentation.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms and strenuous exercise for 1 week after the procedure.
Apply the prescribed antibiotic ointment as instructed.
If unusual pain, excessive swelling or persistent discharge occurs, please visit the clinic immediately.
