When Wrinkles Concern You
Care guide by concern
Wrinkles are divided into dynamic wrinkles (forehead, glabella, crow's feet) caused by repeated contraction of facial muscles, and static wrinkles (nasolabial folds, perioral lines) caused by volume loss and reduced skin elasticity. Dynamic wrinkles are addressed by relaxing muscle overactivity with Botox, while static wrinkles are treated by replenishing lost volume with filler or restoring dermal elasticity with HIFU and Thermage. At DA Clinic Myeongdong, we precisely analyse the type and depth of wrinkles before guiding you on a combination suited to you.
See if this describes your condition
Expression lines on the forehead, glabella, and around the eyes differ in cause from the deep folds of nasolabial lines and around the mouth, so the treatments differ as well. Complex wrinkles that one procedure cannot address are improved naturally through a combination of two or three procedures. When you visit, we distinguish between wrinkles seen while making expressions and those seen at rest, and propose approaches suited to dynamic and static wrinkles respectively. As a principle, we don't add unnecessary procedures.
If this sounds familiar
- My makeup has started settling into my fine lines
- Lines between my brows and on my forehead stay even when my face is relaxed
- Lines around my eyes make me self-conscious in smiling photos
- I'm wondering whether Botox or filler is the better fit for me
Key Causes
- 01Repeated contraction of facial muscles (dynamic wrinkles)
- 02Decline in dermal collagen and reduced skin elasticity
- 03Volume loss from fat-pad atrophy and migration
- 04Lifestyle factors such as UV exposure, smoking and lack of sleep
Treatment Options
Botox
Eases overactive facial muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles on the forehead, glabella, and around the eyes.
Filler
Restores lost volume in the nasolabial folds and around the mouth, smoothing static wrinkles naturally.
HIFU Lifting
Stimulates the SMAS layer to address sagging together with the deeper wrinkles that accompany it.
Thermage
Uses radiofrequency to reorganise dermal collagen, refining fine lines and skin texture.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Botox alone enough, or do I also need filler?
If wrinkles appear only when you make expressions, Botox alone is usually sufficient. However, if the lines remain etched even at rest, static wrinkles are also present, and we also consider combining filler or a collagen-stimulating treatment. At DA Clinic Myeongdong, we compare photographs of your face at rest and in expression to recommend the appropriate combination.
I've heard that frequent Botox leads to resistance. Is that true?
When dosage and intervals are appropriately managed, the likelihood of resistance is very low. The risk of antibody formation rises when injections are repeated too frequently before the effect (typically 4–6 months) wears off, or when excessive doses are given repeatedly. At DA Clinic Myeongdong, we guide each patient on an appropriate dose and treatment interval for safe, long-term management.
How long do wrinkle treatments last?
Botox is generally known to last 3–6 months, and fillers around 6–18 months depending on the product and area. Individual variation exists, so we suggest a maintenance cycle tailored to your duration.
Will my expressions look unnatural after the treatment?
Rather than blocking all muscle movement, we conservatively adjust only the areas that need it. The first session begins with a conservative dose, and we review the result two weeks later.
Results and recovery vary from person to person.
